How to Order
There are 5 easy steps to order spectacles with LessForSpecs. Please note, that you will need a current spectacle prescription from your optomistrist before you begin this process.
STEP 1. Select frames Upload your photo to try frames online
STEP 2. Enter your prescription
STEP 3. Select the lens requirements
STEP 4. Enter your details
STEP 5. Secure payment
STEP 1. Select your frames
When ordering progressive lenses please upload your digital image and select your frame from the virtual try on facility. This will ensure your image will come through with the frame selected when ordering.
We then build a scale model of you with the frames on and take the required measurements to make progressive glasses accurately.
If you require assistance with loading a digital image please let us know via email.
When loading your photo please be patient as it does take a minute to load but will remain on your computer for the duration of your session
STEP 2. Enter your prescription
Once you have selected your frames please enter your prescription exactly as it is written on your prescription card.
Your prescription card information should look similar to the following
Sphere Cyl Axis ADD
R +1.00 +1.75
L Plano -0.75 165 +1.75
Comments: progressive lenses
PD 64/60 → If your card has two PD values please enter the higher (i.e. 64)
Exp date 20/12/2008
PD Value (pupil distance)
A Pupil distance measurement is taken at the time of your eye test and is part of a spectacle prescription.
If your Optometrist will not provide this information you can email a digital image of you holding a phone card, ATM Card or a Ruler pressed against your forehead and we can calculate your Pupil Distance measurement.
A photo taken at about 1 meter (3 feet) looking straight ahead is best (like a passport Photo) see example on our load image page
If a Near PD is also written on the card please enter the PD value only, a near PD will be automatically calculated if reading lenses are selected.
Some times a PD value is provided for each eye i.e. Right 30 Left 30 this is the distance from the centre of the nose the centre of each eye. The combined value of each makes up the "total" PD value. Sometimes the individual values are not the same, this is quite normal. If this is the case with your prescription details please add the two values and enter this as your PD i.e. R 30 L 30 total PD is 60.
R Means Right eye
L Means Left eye
Sphere
Can be written with a + (plus) symbol or a – (minus) symbol for example +2.00 or -2.00
Please make sure you select the correct symbol either + (plus) or - (minus).
Cyl
Our system will only accept a minus Cyl (-) value. If your card shows a plus Cyl (+) value please email your prescription to us at: sales@lessforspecs.co.nz or Fax 09 421 1752
Axis
A value for this field is only required if a Cyl value is entered.
Add
If an Add value is written on your prescription please enter it in to the field provided.
Prism
If you prescription contains a Prism value or If in doubt about your prescripiton, please email sales@lessforspecs.co.nz or fax you prescription to Fax 09 421 1752
STEP 3. Select the lens requirements
In the prescription entry box please select from the “select lens type” from the drop down menu. The following options will be provided:
• Progressive
• Computer progressive
• Single Vision
If you select single vision you will be provided with an option of reading or distance.
A single vision lens is a simple lens which is worn by most people under the age of 45, as opposed to a progressive or bi-focal lens.
Once you have selected your frame and lens type our advanced lens selection system will pre-selected the best lenses for the prescription and frame combination.
You can be confident you will be presented with the best solutions.
STEP 4. Enter your details
Please enter the delivery details for you new spectacles, ensure that someone is able to sign for the parcel as all deliveries require a signature. A business address is preferable.
STEP 5. Secure payment
Lessforspecs is certified by GeoTrust.
This site is secured by QuickSSL utilizing 128-bit SSL certificates thereby offering the highest level of encryption or security possible. This means you can rest assured that communications between your browser and this site's web servers are private and secure.
The secure payment facility provided will ensure a safe and efficient transaction. All transactions are processed by the Bank of New Zealand through a secure link. All personal card information is secure and only accessible by the Bank.
Method of Payment
There are 2 methods of payment: by a credit card and a Direct Transfer.
The Direct Transfer can be paid by transferring the required amount directly to our account. We can provide our bank account details on request.
If a Direct Transfer is the preferred method of payment, please fax your following details on 09 421 1752 or email your details to sales@lessforspecs.co.nz
Your required details are:
1. Name
2. Delivery address
3. Contact phone number
4. Email address
5. Desired frame model
6. A full spectacle prescription including PD (Pupil distance measurement)
7. Lens requirement i.e. Single Vision or Progressive, Clear or Self Tinting
8. A digital photo of yourself
Once your details are received, we will provide you with an invoice.
